IMA Europe’s 2nd student workshop took place in Rotterdam in cooperation with our local partner RSM Rotterdam School of Management
18 students from all over Europe attended the workshop.
Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland
RSM, VU Amsterdam, Webster Switzerland, Abo Akademie Finland, Universität Stuttgart, Agricultural Academy of Timiryazev (Russia)
Many thanks to the students for their enthusiasm and to the universities for supporting their students to make the trip.
One of the highlights of this years student workshop was the tour of the port of Rotterdam, followed by a talk by Tim de Knegt, Treasurer at the Port Authorities, who followed up the tour with some insight into financial planning, innovation and controlling that is necessary to keep the business running. Many thanks also go to Paolo Perego, Associate Professor at RSM for kindly welcoming the students to IMA and the workshop. Saturday was split between hands-on work during the case study session conducted by Ljerka Pfister, Director at PWC and guest lecturer MBA program "Executive Master in Business Engineering" at University St. Gallen, where groups of students had to tackle a case-study and come up with a presentation to the 'board' in three hours. This turned out to be a lot of hard work for the students, so at the end the winners really deserved the Swiss chocolates. Rounding off the workshop on Saturday afternoon, Gwen van Berne, CMA, Manager Business Development ABN AMRO Clearing Bank N.V., tackled the question of career management: skills, knowledge, compatible values, passion, and strategic opportunities are all crucial aspects of one's career planning. Once again, this workshop bridged both academic knowledge and business insight.
